Welcome to Real Fighting Championship, Ireland's newest MMA promotion

A new Irish MMA promotion will be launching soon as Real Fighting Championship will be hosting their debut show on September 17th in Derry.

The show will be spearheaded by Steve Owens and Ciaran McFadden, two known fighters on the Irish scene, and a local professional events promoter will be providing the expertise in bring the event together.

Speaking to Owens he said that the event will aim to have four professional MMA fights as well as a number of amateur MMA fighters under the old amateur rules (UAR) and will also feature a number of pro and semi-pro K-1 fights.

In recent times more focus is being put on fighter safety and Real Fighting Championship's Steve Owens echoed these sentiments when we spoke to him today:

"We have been planning this show for quit some time, the health and safety was first thing we wanted to nail we believe fighter safety is everything and as a fighter I know what I would want. We understand it's a difficult time for MMA but we want to provide an outstanding platform for fighters & get confidence back in our local shows again."

Ciaran McFadden expressed his excitement of the promotion's launch and hopes it will play a part in helping the sport grow.

"With the Explosion of Mixed Martial Arts in Ireland over the past few years I'm excited to be involved in Real Fighting Championship which will be showcasing talent from all over Ireland. We hope to develop a show to reach out to new audiences and grow MMA even further.

Fights and a venue will be announced in the coming days by the promotion.
