IMMAF World Championship Day 1 Results for Irish MMA

Day 1 of the IMMAF Amateur MMA World Championships took place in Las Vegas yesterday. In total Irish MMA has 20 fighters competing. Some were in action on day 1 while others were given a bye into the second round of their respective division.

Irish fighters went 6-3 on day 1. The winners are in action again tomorrow (Wednesday) along with the rest of the Irish fighters yet to compete.

Here are the results:

 

Flyweight - 125 lbs - 16 competitors

Satoshi Miyokawa (JPN) def. Alex Brophy (ROI) via submission, rd 1.

David Fogarty (ROI) def. Hussain Abdulla (BHR) via submission, rd 1.

Micky Pereira (NI) goes through opponent didn't make weight.

Featherweight - 145lbs - 26 competitors

Nathan Kelly (ROI) def. Reece Van Der Merwe (RSA) via submission, rd 2.

Lightweight - 155lbs - 28 competitors

Iorga Cristian (ROM) def. Ciaran Clarke (ROI) via unanimous decision.

Jay Jay Wilson (NZ) def. Eric Nolan (ROI) via unanimous decision.

Welterweight - 170lbs - 28 competitors

Cian Cowley (ROI) def. Alex Garcia (ESP) via KO, round 2.

Marcin Zembala (NI) def. Milton Mateus (POR) via unanimous decision.

Middleweight - 185lbs - 26 competitors

Diarmuid O Buachalla (ROI) def. Daniele Dell'otto (ITA) via split decision.

Light Heavyweight - 205lbs - 18 competitors

Matthew Sheehan (ROI) def. Damien Remy (FRA) via submission, rd 1.
