Daichi Takenaka submits Alan Philpott at Vale Tudo Japan

Alan Philpott (15-8) was in action in the legendary Vale Tudo Japan promotion earlier today against Daichi Takenaka (10-0-1).

Unfortunately Takenaka secured a first round rear-naked choke on Philpott to get the win and remain undefeated.

Philpott had taken the fight on late notice and this fight took place in Osaka, Japan, the furthest he had ever had to travel for a fight. He was up against it from the beginning with the lack of time to prepare, the travel and getting climatised, and facing a tough competitor like Takenaka.

This win moves Takenaka to 10-0-1 and being undefeated in 11 fights since he turned pro in 2012. At 26-years-old he is one of Japan's rising stars.

This loss knocks Philpott's two-fight-win-streak that saw him finally capture the BAMMA Lonsdale Title earlier this year with a win over Nathaniel Wood.

The Next Gen NI fighter is scheduled to defend his title at BAMMA 26 on September 10th from Dublin's 3Arena against Aaron Blackwell (15-9-1).
