A pair of amateur fighters from Cork's renowned Samson Martial Arts club were in action in Birmingham over the weekend in the Mixed Martial Arts Championsship promotion.
However, it was a mixed night for the duo. Allan Murphy (pictured top left) scored a unanimous decision win over Arron Cobourne while Nicholas Lwellyn (pictured top right) suffered a first round submission loss to Elijas Paknys.
Their coach, Dylan Sheehan, posted the following on Facebook about the two fighters' respective performances.
"Nicholas was unlucky had a few nice exchanges with his lad but got caught in a standing guillotine and lifted off his feet with it... on the bright side he's unhurt and ready to go again. Allan had a great performance losing the 1st to strong grappling but coming back with great takedown defense and effective damage in 2 and 3."
