After original opponent Zubaira Tukhugov was taken off the card due to what happened at UFC 229, SBG's Artem Lobov (14-14-1) will now face Michael Johnson (18-13) in the co-main event of UFC Moncton in Canada on October 27th.
The match up was first reported by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Sunday night and then later confirmed by various outlets, but yet to be announced by the promotion itself.
Johnson has been part of the UFC roster since 2010 and holds wins over the likes of Tony Ferguson, Edson Barboza, Joe Lauzon, Melvin Guillard and Dustin Poirier.
However, the 32-year-old has went on a 2-5 losing skid in recent years albeit against opponents like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, and Darren Elkins.
Lobov himself has lost his past two fights against Andre Fili and Cub Swanson, respectively, and hasn’t competed since October last year. Overall Lobov is 2-4 in the UFC.
UFC Moncton will be headlined by Anthony Smith vs. Volkan Oezdemir.
