It was a good night for amateur Irish MMA fighters over at Machine MMA 16 in Newcastle over the weekend. We saw Meagan O'Loughlin win a European title in the co-man event of the evening but before that Belfast Martial Arts Academy went 3-0 on the night.
Michael Mulvenna, Ciaran Mulholland and Patrick McNally all made the short trip across to Toon town and it turned out to be a successful trip for the three of them as they all walked away with titles around their waists.
Here are the results:
Michael Mulvenna defeated Zac Ebanks via rear-naked choke in the third round to win the. 61kg semi-pro Machine MMA title.
Ciaran Mulholland defeated James Amos via rear-naked choke in the first round to win the 57kg Machine MMA amateur title.
Patrick McNally defeated Robert McStravock via armbar in the first round to win the 62kg Machine MMA amateur title.
Their coach Stephen Sweeney spoke to us about his excitement of the three wins and how proud he is of his guys. He also revealed that they will fight for British title in December.
"I don't even know where to start. We have went back to our old training scheme and the guys have really put the hours in and deserve this. There will be plenty more to see from us, great wins for Ireland from great kids."
