BAMMA have this evening announced that Irish MMA veteran Chris Stringer (11-12-1) will replace Myles Price against Rhys McKee (5-0) at BAMMA 28 in Belfast on February 24th.
McKee has emerged as a breakout star in Irish MMA and capped off last year by capturing the BAMMA Lonsdale Lightweight Title by securing his fifth straight stoppage victory.
This a proper prospect vs. veteran match-up as Stringer has been competing professionally since 2005. Over the years he has faced the likes of Rich Clementi, Greg Loughran, Graham Turner and Aaron Wilkinson.
Stringer returned after a prolonged absence from the game at BAMMA 26 where he lost by decision to Paul Redmond. He received praise for this performance.
Now the Team Kaobon fighter aims to take the belt from McKee in what he expects to be an exciting fight,
"Rhys is such a top prospect and comes from a great gym. It really is fantastic to see fighters like him coming from Northern Ireland," said Stringer. "We match-up perfectly as both of us bring it. This will not be a boring fight and I look forward to walking away with the belt in front of a big hometown crowd."
