Cork's Dylan O'Donovan wins on late notice at Almighty FC 5

SBG Cork's Dylan O'Donovan moved to 2-0 as an amateur after being called up on late notice to compete on Almighty FC 5 in Leeds on Saturday night.

The featherweight submitted Nathan Bower with a rear nake choke in the second round in what was his first fight outside of Ireland.

Speaking to Dylan about the fight he had the following to say:

"It was a great experience to fight at Almighty FC 5. Such a great show to be on and then it was amazing to get the win.

"I took the fight on weeks notice vs a good grappler. I started off slow, landed a few shots then he threw a kick. I caught it then he pulled me into his guard but I reversed it and got mount, landed a few shots before the bell went. In the second round I found my feet and landed a few shots. He charged forward so I shot for a double leg, picked him up, slammed him, took his back and sunk in the rear naked."

Dylan has been training around two years now with SBG Cork and says that the gym is in a good place at the moment with a lot of dedicated people there and says that Cage Legacy's debut in Cork will be his next outting.

"The gym is flying at the moment," he said. "We're all in fight camp for Cage Legacy coming up. We have a few on that card including Graham McCormack, who is fighting for a title, and I'm fighting a good lad in Ronan Manning, this will be a war no doubt so really looking forward to that.

"We are all flat out, training 5 days a week, improving all the time. Anyone looking to pick up martial arts for fitness or just a hobby the SBG Cork is the place to go."
