Joe Duffy makes a statement in Vegas

Joe Duffy (15-2) has bounced back from his first UFC defeat on Thursday night when he beat Canada's Mitch Clarke (11-4) via submission early in the first round.

After making a splash in his first two fights in the UFC last year Duffy suffered some bad luck after his main event fight in Dublin against Dustin Poirier was cancelled on short notice due to an injury sustained in training. The fight against Poirier was then rescheduled to UFC 195 where he lost via unanimous decision.

But on Thursday Duffy redeemed himself with a quick and flawless performance. The lightweight nearly got the knockout after he landed a straight right down the middle. Clarke fell to the canvas and Duffy pounced, here he sunk in the rear naked choke.

After the fight he said he would like to fight on the New York card or a rumoured Irish card later in the year.
