Top ranked lightweight Tony Ferguson is in a tough spot. He was scheduled to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim lightweight title until the Russian was pulled hours before the fight.
With the chances of that fight getting scheduled being up in the air and McGregor on a break and possibly persuading Floyd Mayweather, this leaves Ferguson with not much worthwhile options left.
Speaking at UFC on FOX Ferguson said he would like McGregor to defend the title or vacate it so that he could have a possible title fight with someone like Nate Diaz.
