SBG's Charlie Ward (2-1) will step foot in cage again for the first time since his fight against Joao Carvalho on the night of April 9th.
Tragically, Joao Carvalho passed away in the days following the fight and sent ripples right through the MMA world.
That fight had an immediate impact on the Irish MMA scene as a number of shows were cancelled and/or postponed while new safety measure were brought in at the pro and amateur levels.
The IAPA was disbanded and the IMMAA was set up in its place with the aim of becomming a national governing body for MMA in the Republic of Ireland with SBG head coach John Kavanagh as its president.
Ward will face Gareth Williams (4-3) in the co-main event t the Adrenaline Fight Night show in Wales this Saturday. Williams has been out of action since 2012 and is 1-3 in his past four fights according to Tapology.com.
