One of Ireland's top prospects James Gallagher (4-0) won his Bellator MMA debut in London's O2 Arena on Saturday evening.
The SBG product scored a unanimous decision win over a tricky opponent in Mike Cutting (7-5) and remains undefeated.
What is really impressive is that Gallagher turned pro just 9 months ago. After a stellar amateur career the 19-year-old scored three straight first round submission wins, including one at BAMMA 24 in front of 5,000 people, before being signed to Bellator.
Cutting came into this fight having beaten top UK prospect Nathaniel Wood and then pushing top Irish fighter Decky Dalton a full three rounds. It is safe to say he was Gallagher's most difficult test to date and 'The Strabanimal' passed with flying colours.
There was a bit of bad blood between the pair after Cutting failed to make weight yesterday and the pair got involved in a bit of a scuffle at the weigh-ins. As a result the fight was made a 148lbs catchweight contest but In the end it made no difference to Gallagher as he walks away with the 'W' in the bag.
