Retired MMA fighter Cathal Pendred will return to competition. This time though it will be in an ADCC-style grappling superfight.
28-year-old Pendred retired after posting a 4-2 record in the UFC and a 17-4-1 record overall in MMA. His last fight was a TKO loss to Tom Breese in his native Dublin last October at UFC Fight Night 76. Since then he has become a successful businessman getting involved with a chain of health food stores.
Though he has been away from competition, Pendred has popped up in various social media posts with his SBG teammates, suggesting he hasn't been out of the gym.
Over his MMA career his was known as a fierce wrestler and on the majority of his fights via decision. He has just one professional MMA win via submission, a rear-naked choke on his UFC debut.
Hugo Borim is a BJJ brown belt and actually defeated Pendred's SBG teammate Philip Mulpetter in Dublin a couple of months ago.
CRC 2 will take place on September 18th in The Wright Venue in Swords. Amateur MMA, K1 and ADCC superfights will feature on the night and all contests will take place in a Ring/Cage.
