Reid and Lawrence top the bill at Clan Wars 25 on Sunday

The 25th Clan Wars event will take place at the Ramada hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland this Sunday. The promotion has been a main stay on the Irish MMA scene since their debut in 2009 with constant and quality shows.

The main event will see the undefeated Paul Lawrence (2-0) take on tricky veteran Michael Reid (3-3) in a catchweight bout.

Lawrence will make his first appearance in over a year. The Rush fighter made a splash when turning pro in 2015 with victories over Viktoras Kontrimas and Alex Masuku over the span of three months.

Reid, who made his pro debut back in 2007, returned after five years away from competition last year. Unfortunately he lost, dropping his record to 3-3. On closer inspection though Reid has only lost to the undefeated Iain Feenan (5-0), UFC vet Mark Scanlon (9-3) and European MMA veteran Ivan Musardo (24-9-1).

Lawrence vs. Reid should make for an interesting fight that could swing either way. A win for Lawrence over an opponent like Reid would be a decent scalp in his young career.

The co-main event of Carl NcNally vs. Arann Maguire has been cancelled last minute due to McNally failing a medical thus highlighting the dedication to fighter safety in Irish MMA. A statement from the promotion read:

"Unfortunately the Carl McNally v Arann Maguire fight has had to be cancelled short notice due to a failed medical brought to our attention at lunch time today.

The information we have received is that Carl Mcnally has not been passed to compete.

All parties concerned are gutted but the new safety legislations for shows now are brought in to safe guard the fighters."

Below is the fight card for Clan Wars 25 (subject to change)
