Sean Tobin (5-2) scored a first round choke submission win over Joey Banks (3-2) at Sparta Combat League in Denver, Colorado last night.
Tobin traveled out the Colorado a number of weeks ago in preparation of this fight and joined up with coach Ryan Shultz and his Trials team in Denver.
Before the fight Tobin told us that he would have the advantage should the fight go to the floor. And that's just what happened. Banks is known in the Denver area as a high kickboxer and is one of Duane Ludwig's students.
This win marks Tobin's first on American soil and he plans to have many more there in the future.
Tobin posted the following on fb after the fight:
"Thank you so much to everyone for all the support, the kind words before and after the fight mean alot.Im truly greatfull for my trials family back in mitchelstown and cant wait to get back to ye this week. Also extreamly blessed to have such a great group of people around me here at Trials fort collins, it was an honour to be here and fight for ye guys #teamtrials"
