The 2017 World MMA Awards took place in Las Vegas this week and it was a very successful night for the SBG pairing of Conor McGregor and his coach John Kavanagh.

As a results McGregor was awarded the 'Charles 'Mask' Lewis Fighter of the Year' for the second year running becoming just the second fighter, along with Jon Jones, to win the award back to back.
McGregor beat the other nominees Michael Bisping, Donald Cerrone, Cody Garbrandt and Stipe Miocic, who all had an outstanding year.
As a result of McGregor's success his coach John Kavanagh was crowned the 'Shawn Tompkins Coach of the Year'. He pipped coaches like Jason Parillo, Din Thomas, Marcus Marinelli and, three time winner, Greg Jackson to the award.
SBG was also nominated for 'Gym of the Year' but lost out to American Top Team.
