Philip Mulpeter vs. Nicolas Dalby set for Cage Warriors 100

Philip Mulpeter vs. Nicolas Dalby set for Cage Warriors 100

Last night Cage Warriors announced a huge fight for Irish MMA as SBG's Philip Mulpeter (9-5) will meet UFC veteran Nicolas Dalby (15-3-1) at Cage Warriors 100 on December 8 in Wales.

Mulpeter, who also goes by the aptly named moniker 'The Honeybadger' due to his willingness to meet anyone head on, is currently on a two-fight-winning-streak, his first since 2012, after impressive submission wins over Ali Arish and Jan Quaeyhaegens, respectively.

The welterweight cemented his place in Irish MMA history as one of the most enjoyable fighters to watch due to his back-to-back wars with Richie Gorey and John Donnelly on the local scene in 2012.

However, he will need to channel these performances when he comes up against Nicolas Dalby. The 32-year-old Danish fighter fought four times for the UFC between 2015 & 2016 and even fought Darren Till to a draw at UFC Dublin. Prior to joining the UFC he went 14-0 as a professional and captured the Cage Warriors welterweight title.

Tommy Quinn to fight for the MTK MMA European Middleweight Title

'The Roly Poly Kid' Tommy Quinn (7-4) will be challenging for the MTK MMA European Middleweight Title on November 17th in England at an MTK MMA event dubbed 'The Rising'.

Quinn made his MTK MMA debut earlier this year with a second round TKO win over well-travelled French veteran Vincent del Guerra (24-20).

This win put an end to a bad patch for Quinn following a number of injuries that only saw him compete three times since 2013.

The Newcastle based fighter has been competing professionally since 2008 and holds wins over the likes of Philip Mulpeter, Shaun Lomas and Dan Hope and is a Cage Warriors veteran.

Quinn's opponent for November 17th is still yet to be announced.

[Video] A Dublin man jumped into the cage to check on McGregor at UFC 229

In all the confusion and chaos going on after the main event at UFC 229 a Dubliner by the name of David Martin, fearing for McGregor, jumped into the cage to help and check on his fellow countryman.

“I wouldn’t say adrenaline took over,” Martin said in an interview with For The Win. “I’d say patriotism took over first.

“I thought Russia was attacking Ireland. I thought a bunch of Russians were jumping in and this guy (McGregor) was tired and beaten down from the fight and was being attacked by what I thought were a bunch of Russian fans. I needed to step in. I was thinking my country was calling for me right now and I’m going in.”

Blaine O'Driscoll Challanges for the Cage Warriors Flyweight Title

Blaine O'Driscoll Challanges for the Cage Warriors Flyweight Title

Next month the Cage Warriors flyweight title could be coming back to Ireland as Dublin's own Blaine O'Driscoll (6-2) will look to snatch the title from Nathan Greyson (6-2) in the main event of Cage Warriors 99 in Colchester, England.

“Nathan Greyson is not an easy man to match because he can end the fight in so many ways, even in the later rounds as we learned earlier this year,” Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan stated via MMAJunkie. “It takes a truly game competitor to get in that cage with him and we have that in Blaine O’Driscoll. This will be an awesome main event.”

Greyson is currently on a three-fight-winning-streak, all stoppages, including a very impressive TKO win over Sam Creasey to win the title in his last fight.

This will be O'Driscoll's first fight for Cage Warriors after finishing with BAMMA. The 26-year-old had previously beat Darren O'Gorman in the promotion and is currently on a 5-1 run.

The Cage Warriors flyweight belt was previously held by Irish legend Neil Seery right before he joined the UFC and O'Driscoll will be hoping to emulate Seery on November 17th.

Michael Doyle Returns for Clan Wars Title Double Header

Michael Doyle Returns for Clan Wars Title Double Header

Irish MMA veteran Michael Doyle (12-4) will return to cage for the first time since his win over Artem Lobov at Clan Wars 19 in 2014. That night Doyle scored a unanimous decision win and defended the Clan Wars lightweight title.

Prior to this Doyle had established himself as one of the best fighters in the country with a number of national title wins and a resumé that boasted victories over the likes of Hugh Brady, Dec Larkin and Ronan McKay. However injuries and other commitments got in the way and kept him on the sidelines until now.

Clan Wars recently announced that Doyle is coming back and not only defending his title but also going for the welterweight championship in a double title fight in the main event of Clan Wars 33 against The Netherlands' Hubert Geven (13-3) on November 17 at the iconic Ulster Hall in Belfast.

Promotion officials confirmed that the fight will be contested at at catchweight of 73kg.

Artem Lobov set to face Michael Johnson at UFC Moncton

After original opponent Zubaira Tukhugov was taken off the card due to what happened at UFC 229, SBG's Artem Lobov (14-14-1) will now face Michael Johnson (18-13) in the co-main event of UFC Moncton in Canada on October 27th.

The match up was first reported by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Sunday night and then later confirmed by various outlets, but yet to be announced by the promotion itself.

Johnson has been part of the UFC roster since 2010 and holds wins over the likes of Tony Ferguson, Edson Barboza, Joe Lauzon, Melvin Guillard and Dustin Poirier.

However, the 32-year-old has went on a 2-5 losing skid in recent years albeit against opponents like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, and Darren Elkins.

Lobov himself has lost his past two fights against Andre Fili and Cub Swanson, respectively, and hasn’t competed since October last year. Overall Lobov is 2-4 in the UFC.

UFC Moncton will be headlined by Anthony Smith vs. Volkan Oezdemir.
